James taught Friday Nogi class... instead of a warm up we just started rolling, which was cool. We rolled probably 5 different rounds, long ones too... definitely over 5 minutes. Had a lot of good rolls. After this james went over a triangle from guard:
-one hand head one hand tricep/arm -scoot hips out kinda like scissor sweep then put your knee in opponents arm...same side arm that you are gripping -other leg then goes to high guard, and grip on tricep switches to his wrist -slide leg through under his arm you are holding to triangle position, other foot goes down to hip or mat to pivot, grab your shin, then underhook the arm you had the wrist grip on -to finish, squeeze knees in while pulling down head After this we did a kimura from same set up: -with knee on his arm butr you can't slip it through... lift his arm up by raising your knee, then kick your leg straight while grabbing around him for kimura -lock kimura, then push hips out opposite way you did before to finish We drilled all these moves a while... probably got 100 reps between the two, maybe more. After class I rolled with a buddy of mine who is better than me... good rolls, got tapped a lot, but I had some nice moves too. Good stuff.

Finally back to the gym...got sick from my gf and was off the mats all week, but back today. James Nilsen taught, went over stuff from side mount and head and arm position. I'm too lazy to write it all out, but we went over a bunch of shit:
*americana from side mount when you have underhook and they are gripping around your lat *basic straight armlock from head and arm position, which comes off them having the underhook on bottom side mount *an americana with your legs when they try and un-straighten their arm from that armlock position head and arm choke from head and arm position when they don't give you the arm for the other two above subs *Two defenses for arm triangle: one where you put swing leg up and grab it with your hand to make space, then hip out, other hand grabs elbow, then regain control and then one where you just bridge guy i was partnered with today was tough... he wanted to drill at full resistance which is a waste of time, guy was trying to put me to sleep while i'm drilling the arm triangle escape. Oh well

No gi, James taught. After warm up, went over bottom side mount when guy on top has far side underhook. First was a reversal into an arm triangle:
-bottom side mount, they have far underhook so you wrap your arm around their head, and other goes into hip like normal -when opponent goes to mount, elbow on their hip goes to their far knee and makes space so you can grab the leg with your two legs, then pinch it with your knee... sort of like half guard, but don't cross legs -from here, hand around head stays tight...hand onto their shulder, then other hand goes behind your head, like you're laying out, this traps their arm -from here you simply push off your feet and reverse to the side of trapped arm... then walk your hand up and secure the arm triangle Second one: -same start, hip out, then put hand on their knee to push it out, but opponent keeps their hands clasped tight -hand on their knee goes inside their arm, then make a frame to break the grip -once the grip is broken, hand goes back to knee, then other hand goes in front of their face and onto opposite shoulder to put pressure on nck in order to make space to grab underhook -once you grab the underhook, they whizzer, so you cant take the back -instead, use your hand on their knee and your top knee to push his weight forward and then drive him over with that momentum and your hand on the leg Last was a kimura from bottom side mount: -same start, hip out but you can't get your knee in because he is keeping his knee tight onto your hip -hand on his knee goes to his foot, grab foot, then hip out again to slip knee in -once knee is in, make the frame from last reversal to break his grip, also swing your free leg high over his shoulder, like setting up an omoplata -after you break grip, then frame on his face by using same technique as grip break but the arm goes on other side of face, this helps him not pull his arm out -one arm them grabs his wrist, other goes around for kimura grip, then drop leg down to his hip to finish so he doesnt roll out Did some situational sparring after, good stuff. Rolled after class for 30 min. with this kid Mike, who was good. He subbed me 4 times in that 30 min I think, but it was some good rolling. The best kind of bjj friends are the ones who are better than you ;P

Shitty class today... went over some half guard reversals and was partnered up with spazzy mc. spazzerson from a few weeks ago. Rolled after class w/ him and he kneed me in the chin like 10 times, so now my tongue is straight mashed. Feels good~_~

Did the lifting session feel easier or more difficult than normal after doing all the BJJ training? Are you noticing a difference in your energy output I mean.
